Movie mode in the Canon 60D is accessed by turning the top left dial. In movie mode the menus change to video related settings.
This tutorial explains about all aspects of the movie mode in the Canon 60D camera.
Canon 60D has a built-in electronic level that provides you with a precise way to make sure your camera is positioned correctly before your shoot a picture.
You can see this electronic level on either the LCD monitor, through the viewfinder and even on the top LCD panel.
LCD monitor: to display the level, press the Info button several times till it appears. The level will work in either horizontal or vertical shooting.
Viewfinder and top LCD panel: Use custom function 4, 2, 5 to allow the Set button display it on both.
This tutorial will explain in detail about the electronic level display, how to enable and use it on all of the above.
The Canon 60D has a dedicated Live View button that enables you to watch the image you’re shooting without using the viewfinder.
This tutorial explains how to efficiently use the live view:
1. Showing more or less information using the Info button (current settings, live histogram, electronic level display).
2. Using the menus to display two types of grids over your image.
3. Check the focus of your image with much more precision by using the Magnify button for up to 5 or 10 times magnified view.
4. Simulate exposure to see how the resulting picture would look after it has been taken.
Silent Mode
Silent Mode allows you to shoot pictures silently, by reducing the noise of the mirror. There are two silent modes available. The first, Silent Mode 1 is quieter than the normal mode. It works even for continuous shooting mode. Silent Mode 2 is the quietest mode, but you can shoot only one frame at a time.
Other topics explained in this tutorial are Metering, Auto Power Off and Aspect Ratio.
Canon 60D has a button on the back of the camera called AF-On. Usually when you focus on an object, you’d half press the shutter button. The 60D offers you another way of doing so using the AF-On button.
This tutorial will explain how this can be done as well as how to use custom functions to change the behavior of the shutter button and the AF-On button to suit your needs.
The Canon 60D has 9 cross-type auto-focus points which makes focusing on off center objects fast and accurate. Your camera can be set to automatically select the AF points or to manually select them one at a time.
This tutorial will guide you through several techniques to properly select these AF points, either by pressing the AF point selection button and using one of the dials to select the desired AF point, or by using custom functions to make the manual procedure even faster.
